Perhaps we timed our visit just a shade late, but the atmosphere and feel of this City branch of the Guinness chain was something akin to a quiet staff bar. No bad thing in the middle of the City, especially if you're after something a bit different than your run-of-the-mill All Bar Ones etc. We fully expect this downstairs bar to be busier at lunchtimes and straight after work and probably populated by a slightly more affluent clientele than we encountered. Here's hoping it's just as down to earth at more popular times as when we stopped by. Aside from the black stuff, food (according to the menus) is served till 10pm (rather rare for this neck of the woods) and also on offer is that Toucan speciality cocktail Absinthe & Red Bull (which if Van Gogh had ever sampled he might have taken a swipe at the other ear as well).
